The Stringybark Creek single track timber-and-steel rail bridge was built in 1887 as a longitudinal-timber-deck bridge with thirteen spans each of eleven feet, for the first stage of the Lilydale-Healesville Railway that linked Lilydale with Yarra Flats (later Yarra Glen).
